Gift Guide for... Home

Gift Guide for... Home

Have you ever thought about giving a gift to your home? I mean it sounds ridiculous if you think about it, because basically it’s a gift for yourself. But if your home is a little neglected or needs a freshening up, or maybe just something that brings new life into your space - keep reading.

Home is such a personal space. This Thanksgiving after we all sat on the sofa, completely too full and exhausted - I felt overcome with gratitude for this kitchen of ours. 3 years ago we were fixing it up and I dreamed of the day when we would have countertops to make a whole Thanksgiving feast in there! The past few Thanksgivings we have spent with friends which we of course LOVE doing, but this year since we hunkered down as a family, I realized it was my first Thanksgiving feast that I got to make at home. And it just made me so so thankful that our little home has given so much to us as a family, and provided us with safety, warmth, and memories. So if you’re wanting to invest in your home, giving it a little extra care and pride (even in that apartment you rent, I see you there, renters!) then when is a better time to do it than this season of hibernation (when all the good sales are going on, too?!?)?

1. Black floor lamp
In a space with white walls, I love a striking contrast of black, especially with the form this one adds to the space. The light will be directional (not soft and ambient) but still useful. We have a desk lamp similar to this and I love it at night. $155

2. Faux cowhide rug
A few years ago, I bought a faux cowhide rug very similar to this and it’s been my MOST used staging piece! It goes pretty much in any setting, because of the easy size and flexibility you have with the shape of it. You can put it over a rug or carpet (ahem, renters!) and it makes the space feel more collected. $102

3. throw pillow
This pillow from H&M stopped me in my tracks. I gotta get one. Sidebar: I love that most everything from H&M is limited run - you won’t see it overused out there. $30

4. horse shoe
I’ve bought these not only for my home but also housewarming presents for friends! A horse shoe is symbolic of good luck. The house I grew up in had a horse shoe nailed above the door inside. I’ve always loved this idea, and this is a small woman-owned business to support as well. There’s like a million colors, go crazy. $30

5. original art
I love this black and white piece. Super flexible! $75

6. faux tree
I love the look of this one with its light blueish tones. $80

7. waffled towels
When was the last time you bought new towels? Have you tried the waffle towel trend? Buy a couple and treat yourself! Keep those linens fresh my friend!! I love the waffle towels and the turkish towels as opposed to the traditional fluffy towels because I notice a huge difference when I dry my hair with them - my hair is more tame, less static-y, and smoother. $17 ea.

8. customized room spray
You guys know I love me some Standard Wax but did you know you can make a customized room spray with their scents as well? Pick your labels and scent and there you go. If you’re stuck on a scent, I recommend Forest Floor or Citrus + Black Currant. $18

9. wood framed mirror
Can you believe this beauty is from Target? Of course you can. Put this on my wish list too, please. $70

10. & 11. art print / original art
Two beautiful and colorful pieces from two talented artists. It is not hard to find special pieces on Etsy to complement your walls! Spend some time looking… or just buy the ones I recommend. Hah! $40-60

12. & 13. kantha quilt / custom throw
A good throw is essential in this season. I LOVE these beautiful kantha quilts from Ebay, and very affordable as well. Another option here? Society6 has the SOFTEST throws! And like a million designs to choose from. We just ordered some throws for the boys’ room and they are unbelievably cozy. And they usually have pretty good sales, too. $65 / $60, but currently 30% off!)

14. Globe floor lamp
I love this one as a soft, ambient light source for your room! It also looks different than the regular globe lamps, and still with a striking black contrast. $115

15. Loren runner rug
Loloi rugs are some of my favorites. They’re classic, affordable, and so flexible with so many styles! Found this runner for a great price. $140

16. faux bird of paradise
If you’re the type of person who withers in the winter months and want to pull some tropical feel back into your home.. this is such a great deal. Conceal the plastic pot in a basket and you’re good to go. $104

Thanks for letting me share these with you! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, filling your homes with memories. If we must be secluded and indoors, we might as well love where we live. <3 I’m always open for questions in the comments!
