Painting Loyal's Nursery
As Loyal's nursery just went live on A Beautiful Mess on Friday (see it here!) I thought I would share a little about the process of painting his statement wall!
I started by taping off everything. Since I knew the paint was going to get drippy, I was sure to lay plastic down. Keep in mind - this whole thing took probably an hour! It was super fast, and that's why I didn't really bother moving his stuff out of the room before I got started. Hah!
I purchased two sample size paints from Home Depot - Behr's Shasta Lake and Opera Glass. So for a grand total of less than $6, this statement wall was born!
I used a disposable bucket and combined a little paint with just a little bit of water, until it was runny enough to have some drip to it. As this whole thing was inspired by Salvation Mountain, I wanted it to feel very carefree and unconcerned with drips! :)
(The lighter blue shade I didn't end up using.) After I did this process with the drippier, darker shade, I went back with the next shade and just painted a little bit over each "blob" to add a little dimension. It's subtle and not really noticeable until you're up close!
And there you have it! :) It was really fun to step outside of my comfort zone and go for something SO bold, but it seems like it really suits who Loyal is, and I love that his space is bright, cheerful, and creative. Feel free to ask any questions below! :)
